Meme of the Year 2005
Dec. 12th, 2005 03:20 pmUm. It’d all be TMI, but we’ll put it under the general heading of ’having a boyfriend’.
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t do new year’s resolutions. I am weak willed.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
5. What countries did you visit?
France, Scotland and Ireland.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Money, lots of money. And more time. There’s never enough of the stuff. :D
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The twelfth of January, because despite the fact that our first date was on the nineteenth of February, that was the day I asked [ LJ User: zorac ] out.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Haven’t really achieved much this year. Just mucked about and muddled through to the end of it. Which is terrible really. Must try harder.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not achieving anything, I’d think. I’ve also been a sucky friend this year, but largely due to not having any time at all ever, and my time being spent calling [ LJ User: zorac ] because it generally requires less preamble than calling anyone else.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Dropped my laptop on my foot. Ow. I have a Cha Cha Slide related injury of the same foot which still hurts. And um...my uterus has been trying to kill me for large portions of the year.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Young Person’s Railcard.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
[ LJ User: zorac ]. Also, for her constant reassurance and medical advice, [ LJ User: s00 ]. *snuggles* She’s awesome.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
[ LJ User: s00 ], I said it at the time, and I still think it now. She’d have been far better sticking with Uni. And I think she should have tried harder at the job thing. Also, me. As ever, I have been terribly sucky.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Train tickets. Visiting people costs a fortune. As does commuting. I occasionally get tempted to work out how much these things have cost me for the year, but then I think it would depress me so I don’t bother.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY!
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
”Shine On You Crazy Diamond.”- Pink Floyd. Thanks, [ LJ User: petulans ] and [ LJ User: starcrossedgirl ].
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter?
Thinner than this time last year, but fatter than last year over all, probably.
iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer. *scowls at trains*
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Nothing. I have had a pretty full year and really couldn’t have fit any more in. Which is something to be proud of, I guess.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Nothing really. It’s been a full year but it was all time well spent.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I’m in Oxford till Xmas Eve Eve, then in Scotland at my Gran’s till Boxing Boxing Day when I return to Oxford till it’s time to go back to work.
21. Did you fall in love in 2005?
*indrawn breath* Careful with the phrasing here. :P ’In love’ is a dangerous phrase. [ LJ User: zorac ] is awesome and makes me very happy and I love him to bits. :D I also mock him because he has a funny nose and a grey hair called Norris.
22. How many one-night stands?
Still none.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
West Wing, I guess. Haven’t watched much TV so it’s all been about the DVDs I’ve been able to steal.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Hate is such an ugly word.
25. What was the best book you read?
”We Need To Talk About Kevin” by Lionel Shriver. It. Rocks. Buy it now.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Spoon. The ”Gimme Fiction” Album is awesome.
27. What did you want and get?
I don’t know. I’ve got things which made me happy, but I didn’t want them before I got them. :D
28. What did you want and not get?
A PINK LAPTOP! :P Or rather, a smaller laptop than George. T’is on the ’I want’ list for when I can afford it.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
’Clue’!
”He threatened to kill me in public!” ”Why would he want to kill you in public?” ”I think she means he threatened in public, to kill her.”
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 19, and I went to [ LJ User: s00 ]’s flat in Glasgow and went out with her and [ LJ User: akahannah ] and it was awesome. :D *loves them both*
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I honestly don’t know. This year has been pretty awesome. More money is all I can come up with.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Jeans. It’s largely been a ’living out of a rucksack’ look, because that’s largely what I’ve been doing.
33. What kept you sane?
Work, and being busy. There’s not been any time to be insane.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I so totally want Mr Bingley from the new Pride and Prejudice. Mmmmm. Also ”I crown you, King Peter, the Magnificent.” ”Isn’t he, though?”
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Americans being right wing and religious.
36. Who did you miss?
[ LJ User: hanacandi ]. She’s been like, two hours away, and I haven’t seen her. Damn my busy busy schedule.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Have I met new people? I can’t remember a thing. I guess it has to be one of [ LJ User: lasultrix ]’s friends, Aoifa and her mother. This girl let me gate crash her birthday do, drink her booze, kip on her couch, and then her mother gave me breakfast and a lift to the airport. I’d never met her before that day. :D Kewl.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
Just do it. Dude. Nike have so totally got it on this one. You don’t want to think too much, it just makes life bewildering.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Hmmmmmmm. This is very very tricky this year. Before I put this out, I shall add a little warning. It doesn’t mean I’m planning a break-up, or I feel a break-up is imminent. It’s just that it took me a large part of the year to get used to this strange relationshippy thing were I am all ”You are are nice and warm and make me happy. But you will go away at some point in the future. And I can but hope that it will happen at a time when you have stopped making me happy.” It’s an accursed strain of realism that tells me that the odds are we will break up rather than any of the other possibilites. And that makes me sad. And this lyric is perfect for that large part of this year.
”The saddest part of a broken heart Isn’t the ending so much as the start
The tragedy starts from the very first spark
Losing your mind for the sake of your heart
The saddest part of a broken heart
Isn’t the ending so much as the start” ’Let it Die’ -Fiest.
